ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Methods for resolving claim disputes: – Negotiation, Mediation, Appraisal Process & Arbitration* If the Appraiser’s agree on the amount of the claim, without an Umpire, the agreed amount will be the binding amount of the loss.
* If the Appraisers cannot agree, the matter is submitted to the agreed upon Umpire.
* The umpire’s decision is final and becomes the established amount of the claim.  The agreed amount is signed by 2 of the 3 persons on the Appraisal Panel, and the subsequent decision is known as “The Award”.
The Award amount is submitted to the insurance company for payment and the claim is deemed “resolved”.

What is an Insurance Appraisal?

All too often, home and business owners find themselves in disagreement with the insurance company and their scope of work and payment of the claim.  The disagreements are typically on the extent of damages or the amount of money that it will cost to repair the damages that they have experienced during a loss. When insurance companies refuses to bend, per your policy, you have the option to demand appraisal. The Appraisal Clause, which is also know as The Appraisal Provision, allows you to have two third-parties voice their opinion on your damages, and the amount to be paid. This process has been described sort of like mediation while some like to think of it similar to court arbitration – without courtrooms, lawyers, jurors or judges of course.

Claim denied, not filed, or underpaid? It’s not too late. We can help you.
